About This Puzzle
Some of the most extreme objects in the universe barely resemble anything we experience on Earth. This puzzle covers ten concepts from the outer edges of astrophysics.
Words in This Puzzle
- Blackhole
- A region of space where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape once it crosses inside.
- Eventhorizon
- The boundary surrounding a black hole beyond which nothing can escape its gravitational pull.
- Singularity
- The infinitely dense point at the center of a black hole where the known laws of physics break down.
- Gravity
- The force that pulls objects with mass toward one another, responsible for holding planets, stars, and galaxies together.
- Wormhole
- A theoretical shortcut through space-time that could connect two distant points in the universe.
- Supernova
- The powerful explosion of a dying star, briefly outshining an entire galaxy.
- Neutronstar
- An extremely dense collapsed star core left behind after a supernova, packing more mass than the sun into a city-sized sphere.
- Redshift
- The stretching of light toward longer wavelengths, used by astronomers to measure how fast objects are moving away from us.
- Darkmatter
- An invisible form of matter that doesn't emit light but whose gravity shapes the structure of galaxies.
- Lightyear
- A unit of distance equal to how far light travels in one year, used to measure the vast scale of space.
